Listen, I still don't know why you are laughing. We trace the foundation of our Church to Jesus Himself. I'm not sure when you think the catholic church began, but if you want to provide some quotes or something we can discuss that issue. So according to your theory then, where did the "great authority" given by God to Peter go upon his martyrdom? Did God then take them back? Or was that the end? I know you aren't a dispensationalist, so you don't believe that the Apostolic authority(along with the gifts of the Holy Spirit) died with the apostles do you? I don't. I'm Charismatic and Catholic and I believe the authority and the gifts and the Church are all alive and well.

It's very "cafetiriaish" of them. ). They only believe in post 16th century history. They don't accept The Church Fathers, the canonization of The Holy Bible, they just don't look past the 1,500's. It's a waste to try to prove a point with history because when they get cornered, they'll just accuse The Catholic Church of controlling the printing presses and of making history up. The only way to argue with a non-Catholic Christian is to use The Bible. And frankly, that's all you need. Of course, the fact that The Catholic Church created the Bible goes beyond them. They just won't accept that, even though over 80% of Christianity knows this, unbiased secular world history proves this historically and it is just fact that requires no religious affiliation for one to accept. That's when you get the "real" Christian speech, that somehow, Jesus' "true" Church is a small collection of independant Christians (contrary to scripture) getting direct revelation from God without the need for a teaching authority (again, complete contradiction to scripture). Oh, and they don't need religious leaders like Peter and The Apostles (yet they will quote these same teachers ). Trust me, I know the drill. I can pretty much list every response to every thing Catholic. They know more about being Anti-Catholic than they do about Christ. Fact. I can test any of them at anytime and knock them down a few pegs. This is when the insults start coming at me. So, I've learned just to allow them to speak. I'm like the daddy lion to brings the kills in for the baby lions to devour and practice on while I sit back and watch. Occasionally, I'll slap the corpse around to show the babies how it's done. |
