I've heard people say that the only way to come to God The Father is through Jesus Christ first even though this is completely contradictory to what Jesus said.
Where does this belief come from and how can a Christian propagate such a lie?

I thought Jesus says in the bible that everyone must go through him to get to his father? He did, but He didn't say that one got to God through Him first! What He said was that no one come to Him (Jesus) unless The Father FIRST brings them to Him. Or in other words, it is God that brings one to Jesus Who in turn brings one to God. See? God The Father does the bringing first. Unless The Father brings you to Jesus, you will not be able to come to Him through Jesus.

Jesus is as much God as the Father is God.
"And Jesus saod to them, 'I am the I Am.'"
Thus, we should pay Jesus just as much respect by not just going to Him DIRECTLY without the intercession and pure hands of another more pure than ourselves.
That is why I NEVER go to Jesus without doing so through the virginal hands of Mary. I pass through Her, to Jesus, and, then, I talk to Him, knowing that I am in His Holy presence.
The notion that Jesus is our door-keeper to God the Father is total heresy. We can go to Jesus through Mary, and to the Father through Jesus.
This shows respect.
