If someone has taken a class before, and I need help on an assignment, I will ask them for help and believe what they tell me because they have taken the class before. I dont ask for a source, I just believe them because they have taken and passed the class before me. Same thing here...they have taken the classes, have passed them, so i believe what they say.

Why don't you just go to Jesus? Why do you need to go to someone else? You are putting that person above Jesus. See that? You say that passing on information learned is okay for "your" associates, but that it's not ok for The Apostles, right? Double standards M. Double standards.

I wasn't talking about a Biblical issue here...I was talking about...like math or something.
BUT I WILL TAKE THE CLASS. Someday over the rainbow.

Why emily dont you just research the subject yourself, and not by others thoughts. Its a real easy thing to do, i personally would like to know the truth rather than what others say. I believe its pretty ignorant to rather know opinions and not facts.

I believe its pretty ignorant to rather know opinions and not facts. I think that when it comes to Church History, they are not allowed to study for themselves. They are also not allowed to question History. According to them, Christians didn't exist until the 1,800's and that they only appeared in Europe and in the United States. At least, that's what's been stated here.

Marcie, When I take the class it'll be facts.
Lol, I'm allowed to study whatever I'd like.

Marcie, When I take the class it'll be facts. Lol, I'm allowed to study whatever I'd like. So people who take classes in Satanism are learning facts? "Just" because you're being taught something under the construct of academia, that automatically makes it "true"? That's dangerous. You're placing your faith in men to get your spiritual training. Spiritual revelation doesn't come from men or from classes or from books. Only secular history does. And you won't get "secular" history from a "religous" institution.

I tried Theological Classes, but the Priest told me to talk to him after class. He told me that based on my questions to him, I have a "charism" and that class wasn't the right place for me. He told me that I had to nurture that gift with a spiritual advisor. So I began to see The Franciscan Friars of The Renewal (Monks). They don't "teach" you how to be...the help you when you have questions, but leave the spiritual development up to God. Maybe Protestants have some type of spiritual advisers you could seek out? I think one needs to get spiritually centered first (and I'm not saying you're not) and then set out to seek historical training. When I went for my historical training, I didn't go to The Catholic Church (I didn't trust any institution to teach me "their" way). Oh, by the way, in case I didn't tell you, I used to be the worst Anti-Catholic/Mary Hatin'/Almost God denying/border atheist you've ever seen. Imagine me being as anti-Catholic as I am pro-Catholic today. Shocker, hey? ;D

Most people are shocked when they find out I used to be anti-Catholic. But, when God wants to straighten you out, no man can resist His will.

good question "who tells you"...
I guess it's a combination of many things. Upbringing, the church you once belonged to (even if you moved on from said church, then maybe that church taught you how "NOT" to be a Christian you know? Your priests, the pope, your parents.. it's such a combination.
I would say the bible alone but then when you think about it, look at how 10 people could interpret the bible 10 different ways.. that's when we look upon prayer, our priests/pastors..our teachers, our bretheren, our hearts, our ministers, etc..

Yeah, and if you read the Catholic Cathechism it also has to be interpreted. Don't tell me that all Catholic apologists agree with each other.

I think you're thinking of the jesuit/ dominican debates over free will. Then again maybe not.

On top of all that...at one time or another, The Apostles debated over doctrine.
Debate is a great thing. It clears up the air. If debate were so bad, what would that make those who based their entire religion on "protesting?"
