How does the catholic church view Paul and the churches he started?
Or James the Just leader of the Jerusalem church?
Or Thomas' work in India? Or Phillip in Samaria?or Mark in Egypt or Matthew in Ethiopia?Or John and Nathaniel in Turkey?

Start a thread on those men and I'll be happy to meet you over there! ;D This thread is devoted to Peter and the belittling of Peter by a minority of Christians.

This thread (unlike the Peter Haters thread) is to discuss the refusal of Christians to accept Peter as God's chosen to lead The Church.

Peter was an apostle, so why in Gods name would any Christian belittle him?

Peter was an apostle, so why in Gods name would any Christian belittle him? Hello Cradle, I'm a little ignorant here, but what exactly do some of the Protestants say to belittle Peter? I haven't heard the Protestants that I know saying anything against him though they do have a problem associating the Pope with the Chair of Peter. Yarddog

Much love-----------knuckle Hello Knuckle, The Catholic Church honors all of the Apostles along with of the great Saints that worked and died in service of the Church. Let's also not forget all of the unnamed martyrs that also died during the early Church. The Catholic Church honors all of these christians. Yarddog

Yarddog Their attacks on Peter are similar to those on Mary (that he wasn't special, that he could've been anybody, etc...). I'm learning to say "Anti-Catholics" now instead of Protestants with regards to attack on Catholic specific beliefs because the overwhelming majority of unprovoked attacks on Peter come from them, where as non-Ant-Catholic Protestants don't really have an opinion pro/con on it.

And the OP still stands...why can't they (Protestants) accept that Jesus chose Peter to head His Church?

I noticed many time you have answered a question like this, yet thread after thread you have interrupted with your off topic debates. How hypocritical of you. Uhhh, that's "off-topic". ;D

Why can't Protestants accept that Jesus & God chose Peter to lead The Church upon His return to The Father? Hey Cepha, I was looking through some things tonight and came across this. www.bringyou.to/apologetics/num13.htmI think that you will like it. You seem to have a good sense of humor and the way they put this together, at least starts out funny. I didn't get a chance to read it all. Let me know what you think of it. Yarddog
