This thread (unlike the Peter Haters thread) is to discuss the refusal of Christians to accept Peter as God's chosen to lead The Church.

Hello Cradle,

I'm a little ignorant here, but what exactly do some of the Protestants say to belittle Peter? I haven't heard the Protestants that I know saying anything against him though they do have a problem associating the Pope with the Chair of Peter.

The Catholic Church honors all of the Apostles along with of the great Saints that worked and died in service of the Church. Let's also not forget all of the unnamed martyrs that also died during the early Church.

The Catholic Church honors all of these christians.

Their attacks on Peter are similar to those on Mary (that he wasn't special, that he could've been anybody, etc...).

I'm learning to say "Anti-Catholics" now instead of Protestants with regards to attack on Catholic specific beliefs because the overwhelming majority of unprovoked attacks on Peter come from them, where as non-Ant-Catholic Protestants don't really have an opinion pro/con on it.

I have no problem with this statement.

Saying he was the first pope, when he was dead b4 catholicism existed is what I do accept, or that the ''Catholic'' church is the only true church is also what I will not accept.

This is where studying history comes into play. If you read ancient historical Christian documents that could not have been forged, you will find that the first Christians called Peter the first Pope. And you'll find that The Catholic Church has existed historically since the first century in such documents and also that Christianity practiced undeniably Catholic practices.

All true believers in Christ living their lives in obedience to the Father and holding strong to the faith in Christ is a part of Jesus' church regardless of denomination.

This is why I don't believe that...Jesus said that a house divided against itself cannot stand. To say that denominations that are divided against themselves constitute a united church is impossible.

A person that lives in true obedience to Christ must accept everything He taught without room for personal interpretation.

This is why The Eucharist is what keeps non-Catholics out of the Church. They just cannot grasp what Jesus taught us about it. It's just like what scriptures showed us (which is still happening today)...for some, this teaching is just too difficult to hear.

There is no way that a person that believes in The Eucharist and a person that doesn't believe in The Eucharist can worship God together in the "same" church (be it a spiritual body, a physical building or a tent).

These body of believers are the church that satan will never prevail against. Satan could destroy every organized denomination including catholicism, and God would still have a remnant of true believers that would be His church.

You are misinformed about what a denomination is.

A denomination is an off-shoot or a smaller versioin of something from which it came. Since Protestantism originated from Catholicism (basing their religion taking our Bible, our Doctrines on Salvation, on The Holy Trinity, etc...), they are denominations "of" Catholicism (or universal Christianity) where as Catholicism is universal for all mankind (which is the very way Jesus wanted it).

We don't say you have to worship in a Calvinistic manner or a Lutheran manner. We say that to be a universal Christian, you must worship simply as a universal (Catholic) Christian. Jesus never said "Go make Pentecostals, Baptists, Unitarians, Mormons, etc...". He said make disicples of "all" nations. "All" literally means "universal" or "catholic".

The "true" Believer is the one that believes Jesus when He says "truly" that The Eucharist is is flesh and the wine His blood.

No, it means that Jesus (through which all things were made and created), redefines what consecrated unleavened bread and wine become. In other words, if He says that a piece of unleaved bread's definition is now "Jesus' flesh", so be it.

I bend my mind to the scripture, not try to bend the scripture to the limits of my understanding.

Therefore, those who don't believe what Jesus says cannot be called "true" believers. This isn't an interpretational choice. It is as it is written. The Eucharist (yes, it literally says that in The Bible, eucharist is Greek for "Thanksgiving Meal" which Jesus was celebrating when He made that statement that it has now become His flesh and blood), "is" Jesus' flesh and blood.

And Satan could never destroy The Cathlolic Church because as Jesus told he (Peter) that The Church is founded upon, the gates of Hell would not prevail against it.

The Church always was and always will be universal (catholic).

And only one Christian Church is universal today while all others are denominational.

As for it "not" existing during the times of Jesus or The Apostles automatically excluding her, know what else didn't exist?

The Holy Bible.

And it wouldn't exist until God chose The Catholic Church to reveal it to the world.
