This is such a self-indulgent display of showmanship!
The day I see this in a Catholic Church, I'd write a letter to Vatican City!
He needs to be dealt with!

That's not a sermon...that's a show, a performance. I don't see The Holy Spirit there. Anywhere.

Alot of what he is saying is true, but his delivery is to serve himself...not the truth.
For me, it's a disgrace.
He should be sanctioned by The Church for his speech.

Father Mike is always good for a laugh Yeah...that stuff is ok if one is entertaining a crowd, but I think it has no place in a house of God. He (being a Catholic Priest) should've known better. His acts disrespected a house of worship for God. That it was accepted by those there is besides the point...I believe with all my heart that God was not pleased with his mockery of his daughter, Hillary Clinton. There have been times that I have told the truth in an arrogant manner and I knew I did it and I didn't apologize for it and I took pride in my behaviour and my ego was boosted because of that. When I realized my mistake after reading scripture (especially The Wisdom of Sirach), I wholeheartedly felt shame for my acts and sincere repentance. I asked God for forgiveness but couldn't retract the impression I left upon those I spoke to. So their image of me as a Catholic is one of arrogance. I did a disservice to my faith, to the body of Christ and to God Himself. And I live with that. While I believe I am forgiven for that, I still fight my own inclinations to want to win a debate or overcome someone who makes incorrect statements about my Church which I believe to be Jesus' Church. But to be honest, I don't defend it because it is Jesus' Church...I defend it because it is my Church. That is the wrong reason. What anti-Catholicism does to me is that it brings out the worse in me, in the person who believes it and in us in general...those are the fruits of that labor, so anti-Catholicism is "not" of The Holy Spirit, but of man. God isn't anti-Catholic. Jesus isn't anti-Catholic. The Holy Spiri isn't anti-Catholic. 83% of Christianty isn't anti-Catholic. The only ones who are anti-Catholic are Satan and those that believe as he believes. One could be a good practicing Christian without being a Catholic Christian and without being an anti-Catholic. I feel the same way about those who've been anti-Protestant. In fact, I feel more anger towards them because they should know better and have no excuse and no Catholic leader would allow that sort of behaviour. I'm not anti-Catholic...I'm anti-anti-Catholic. ;D

Cepha, this goes back to what I was saying in the Rev. Wright thread.Father Mike isn't speaking to the world,he is speaking to a particular congregation. There are preachers all over the world that if seen outside of their congregation would receive this same response. There is a relationship between the speaker and audience that sets the stage----what would be taboo any where else is acceptable because of common history.
lets take the word nigger for example a great insult if directed by a white person toward a black person but completely acceptable between two blacks an a term of affection.
this is an extreme example but it is the same principle between a preacher and his congregation
Rev Wright or Father Mike or Jesse Jackson can say things in their home churches and it be completely acceptable----post it in you tube and just about everyone OUTSIDE that congregation will be offended.
much love------------knuckle
