Ok so what is the best way to learn, aside from visiting a location that speaks the language. I am going to grad school to get a masters of theology but, if I want to get a doctorate I most likely will need to pick up a language that I can be fluent in and that has always been my achilles heel. So let's here it. What say you?

So let's here it. What say you? Fastest way? Gift of tongues (the "real" gift). Other than that? Find music you like in the language you want to learn, mimic the words with your mouth not worrying about what they mean. This is training your mouth and tongue to move in the ways that they need to move with that respective language. Then, as you learn the language, the words will be easier to pronounce. Worked for me. ;D

Yeah, find music and movies in that language that you like (with printed lyrics and subtitles) Also, start with a good foundation of the alphabet in that language and basic grammar and pronunciation.
And for heaven's sake, don't try to learn German! Go for an easy language. I recommend Spanish, esp if you plan to live in the USA long term. It is really easy for an english speaker to learn.
