Mind you, I'm not judging them personally, but when I hear some of the things they say, I cringe when I hear the word "Catholic" attached to them and I wonder if that's what people think of me when I mess up in life...like I completely discredit my faith when I mess up. I've been a real jerk in my life...I'd dare say, a lowlife & hypocrite. It makes me want to shup up sometimes and never speak out of fear that I would damage my the image of my faith in other's eyes. I won't mention the things that I've done here that I've been praised for, for that would be boasting and that's for God's eyes only, but I will confess my sin in front of all of my bretheren here. I am weak. I take pride in proving people wrong about my Church in a way that does "not" serve Christ. I love to silence Anti-Catholics with scripture and to shut them down at which time I resort to antagonizing them and contributing to them becomming "un-Christlike" towards me. I have to carry some of that weight (although, every person is guilty for their own action and much take responsibility for them as I do for mine). There were so many times that I've said things that weren't true playing around that I didn't go back to correct giving some of my adversaries the wrong impression. I didn't do it on purpose. Sometimes I've fed into some of their Anti-Catholic beliefs to get them riled up. I'm laughing now as I type this when I think of the tempers that I've flared up. Now, I'm frowning when I think of how wrong that is. I worked to give them aneurysms on purpose justifying it by saying to myself that they deserve it for being wrong about my faith. But, I've grown tired of that. The real truth? The only reason I've engaged people that were wrong about Catholicsim was to cause them great anger and to drive them crazy and to drive them into ranting rages. It's the equivalent of the the childhood game of grabbing a kids hands, hitthing his head repeatedly and saying "Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself!" It used to be fun. It's not anymore. Perhaps, I've grown spiritually. I'm no saint, but I think I'm done with that phase.

I could write an encyclopedia with all of the names. You'd end up with 1/6th of the world's population or roughly about 1.3 Billion folks.

If you completely cease to believe anything the Catholic Church teaches, then don't you cease to be Catholic? That's what I always thought...

I doubt you can call katie Holmes and Madonna Catholic now. Technically, I think one has to literally renounce their faith formally. I don't know that they have. Katie is well on her way back to a "normal" religion. That whole Scientology thing ain't working out for her. Just like Nicole did when her and Tom broke up. Her current husband is another hardcore Catholic like she is again. Geez. I feel like a chick on the line at a grocery checkout counter discussing the gossip rag topics! LOL!

It seems to me that you have to believe everything that the church teaches or you are not a true Catholic. Agreed. "True" being the word there. Most "American" Catholics (about 70%) are not devout practicing Catholics. I call them "Christmas/Easter" Catholics (that's when they come to Church or when they want to have their kids baptized or when they want to get married). I am a "true" Catholic in beliefs, but I'm not living up to my faith's teachings. I still fail. However, not purposely. I faulter humanly. I struggle with arrogance and pride still. So I definitely can't judge.
