Tell the world why they should become Christians "without" using Scripture (in other words... in "your" own words).
You cannot copy & paste your argument.
You must witness to the world from your own heart.

Oh, by the way, before you use the "excuse" that one must have The Bible before they can preach The Word, remember that The Apostles didn't have The Holy Bible. ___________________________________________________________________ 1 Peter 3:14-16 " But even if ye should suffer for righteousness' sake, blessed are ye: and fear not their fear, neither be troubled; but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: being ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear: having a good conscience; that, wherein ye are spoken against, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life in Christ." [ The "coolness" factor of being a Catholic is that we believed over a thousand years before any other Christian group was ever created in post-16th century Europe. Why do you?] God bless you and I look forward (as do we all I assume) to your answer.

Sorry, I'm off the topic.
When I was protestant, I thought I had to carry my Bible around everywhere I went and I thought I had to "witness" to people using only the Bible.
Once I went to Cincinatti on an "outreach" and we were told to go into a park and talk to people and witness to them. I, of course, had a Bible with me because..well...anyway... this one guy (also on the outreach) grabbed my Bible and shut it and was like "you don't need this to talk to people, just speak from your heart." I was so shocked and scandalized by this, I didn't know what do to! A Christian, telling me not to use the Bible? It was just too much for me at the time. Looking back on it now, I'm wonder what those homeless people thought we we came at them with Bibles? They probably wanted to hide. Yikes! No wonder I didn't have many converts in my early years.

lol
I find it some what humorous the way they all take their Bibles to church with them, its almost like they have to, if not they would be looked down upon or even called out in front of the church.

Looking back on it now, I'm wonder what those homeless people thought we we came at them with Bibles? They probably wanted to hide. Yikes! No wonder I didn't have many converts in my early years. I've heard that too from non-Catholic Christians. Some have been either extemists for or against Bible usage. Some are Bible Alone types. Some are holy spiritians who believe that all you need is the spirit...which then leads to the questionns how do you know "which" spirit you are being led by? And if you can't use Biblical standards to determine that...the book from which they "got" the idea of The Holy Spirit...then they become churches unto themselves. They become their own gods, their own magisteriums letting their whims guide them and I believe opening themselves up to Demonic influences because of their pride and arrogance that they don't need the source of everything we know "of" God...The Holy Bible). Because they are convinced that they are doing "God's work", they go full speed ahead on this Evangelical rampage being their own authority. Eventually, they end up pushing people away from God because they misrepresent Him and think "Yes! I'm succeeding! The Bible said I'd be rejected! So I must be doing something right!" Then poof! Their into their own worlds not realizing that they are using the same "book" they say they don't need to justify their own self-initiated program of Evangelism. I have no doubt that God calls people to bring home sheep. But I firmly believe that there are tons of people who "think" their being called to this task, but really aren't. Because I can't know exactly "who" God calls out, I like to live by the standard of Jesus when He was approached by John on others doing works in Jesus' name that are "outside" of the established Church: Whoever Is Not Against Us Is for Us
Mark 9: 38"Teacher," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us."
39"Do not stop him," Jesus said. "No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me,
40for whoever is not against us is for us.
(PS...I really love this type of posting far better than the Politics!)

I kind of liked that, that they carried their Bibles to church, but really, they don't use it that much once there (at least the services that I attended). They'll construct a discussion by combining an assortment of unrelated scriptural verses. Or, they'll read a passage and extract several different explanations from it. I'd sit there and in my mind say "No, that's not what's that's saying!". But out of respect, I'd stay silent. I am sooo happy that we have The Priesthood and The Magisterium and our history to rely on. This isn't a slight upon Non-Catholic Christians, but just pure love and admiration for The Church that Jesus left us. It is as close to perfect as one can get. Thank God for The Catholic Church. Thank God for all those people who work in His Name (whether they be Catholic or not).

baptists for sure, but most protestants Serioiusly though, when I was growing up (and my family is 1/2 Pentecostal), it seemed that if you didn't walk/talk/dress/act like them, you were shunned. I'm talking about the congregation itself. I think today though it would be different except for some pockets in the bible belt where they are detached from normal civilization. But I'd think that in general, they are way more progressive and tolerant today than they were say 30 years ago.

Yes 30 years ago you had to have your bun perfect to show up, now they go in shorts. I used to ask my female cousins if the mustaches were mandatory! LOL! As for dress codes, I'm all for persons dressing decently, but not opposed to homeless people going in rags. I am against people putting on fashion shows and dressing up like their going to a night club. I made up this joke: A little boy went to church with his mother and saw a man come in with Sandals.
His mother immediately began to point to him and to murmur to her fellow congregationlist as to how dare this man enter the House of The Lord in sandals!
The lilttle boy was bothered by this.
He turned to his mother and asked...
"But mommy, didn't Jesus wear sandals?"

Omy goodness! When I first read this, I thought you were asking the women if THEIR mustaches were mandatory! Well, for me it would make sense, most of my cousins are Italian, or Italian/Lebanese.

Well, I have no problem with people taking their Bibles to Church. THe only time it confuses me is when everyone brings their Bible to a Church that already has Bibles in every pew.
I also never understood writing in Bibles. What could we possibly write in a BIble that would be necessary? Does anyone really think their "study notes" or whatever, are better than what's already in there? (at least right it in a separate book maybe) I'm definitely guilty, but I'm trying to quit. I have Muslim friends that would be completely and rightly offended to see people writing on the Bible.

I was asking the women (my female cousins)! LOL! It's funny. But they all grew mustaches. Not that I knock them for being natural...I like a woman who is make-up/hairstyle free. That is true beauty to me.
