This is getting entirely too long, so Im going back to bullet points:
1) When someone has celebrity status that has nothing to do with *knowing* their platform, record, where they stand, etc. It has more to do with knowing they like to play basketball or they grew up in Hawaii, or how there’s some really touching story about how Obama and Michelle met, etc…
In other words, those who voted for President Hussein, who started running two years ago, who posted his positions on the issues, didn't know his positions on the issues?
What is your evidence of this belief of yours?
Will it be "The Only Way He Could've Won Was Because Americans Didn't Research His Positions On The Issues!" defense?
2) Clinton economy (w/ Republican Congress)-
www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=4618Well, if you're going to quote The CATO Institute...
By the way, that article is from 2,000.
That's 8 years before the Republican controlled Congress/Senate/Presidency ran our country into the ground.
And...facts are facts. Not one Republican voted for President Clinton's Budget that got our country out of the mess George Bush Senior left us in, so they cannot take credit for taking the steps neccessary to get our country rolling again.
Just like this Republican Party can't for they too refused to vote Yea on President Hussein's proposal.
3) “Yet, that was the man that was voted for a 2nd time….” – You’re a tad bit off on the chronology here. Besides my whole point to you has been about choosing the lesser of two evils rather than the worse of two evils!
Listen, when you vote for someone who ran their own state into the ground, who's going to be surprised that he ran the country into the ground?
My whole point is that people that voted for George Bush chose the wrong man and they did it knowing his record of failure in Texas.
And they did it not based on his record but based on the principle that they could "have a beer with" this fellow...which I find odd since Bush is an Alcoholic and they can't have beer.
4) Big Bad Oil:
www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,915664-1,00.html
www.heritage.org/Research/EnergyandEnvironment/wm1004.cfmwww.heritage.org/Research/energyandenvironment/wm2004.cfmBig bad oil...record breaking profits, raking in American Taxpayer Tax Credits (which contribute to their record breaking multi-billion profits) while hardworking American folk are screwed at the pump.
Republicans always were and always will be for supporting the wealthy and leaving the common man twisting in the wind.
And...can you support your views while quoting unbiased sources?
If you're going to pick overwhelmingly biased sources, you're really not making a convincing case and are showing that you can't prove your point nuetrally.
When I debate a Prostestant, I don't use an Imprimatured Bible.
I use their King James Version of it so that they can't scream bias.
Then, my case is undeniably proven because I use their source.
5) Saddam and Oil:
www.heritage.org/Research/InternationalOrganizations/bg1772.cfmwww.heritage.org/Research/MiddleEast/EM277.cfmwww.heritage.org/Research/Iraq/bg1730.cfmAgain...biased source.
Cannot be trusted.
And we all know who benefitted from Sadam being taken out and from Iraq being taken off of the Oil Producing market...Big Oil.
And we all know what "business" The Bushes are in...Big Oil.
Stevie Wonder could've saw that one coming!
6) “taking money from the poor…and giving it to the rich!” – You’re right, the economy, and all of the poor people do so much better when businesses are punished, and they lose profits. Then, as they lose profits, they have layoffs, and if things get worse they may collapse altogether and get in line with everyone else to beg for their own a govt bailout.
You must have been born in 2000, because while President Clinton was in charge, he did exactly that...he forced profit producing companies to pay their fair share of taxes (not to pay less proportionately than the working man) and guess what happened...the economy exploded.
Here's what you guys fail to understand...working class people support businesses with their buying power. When you strip them of money and give it to big business, it's bad for everyone.
Trickle Down Economics never worked...it left us in a recession under Bush I. When it was done away with with Clinton, the economy exploded and continued until we put another Bush "back" in office at the reins of our economy and guess what happened...again the economy tanked and we not only brought a proven failure in to lead the country, we gave him "4 more years" to continue to tank our economy!
Well done!
Now! Suffer the wrath of the American people Republican Party!
That's why the all got booted out! Not because the liberal media brainwashed us (remember, this began two years ago before President Hussein was really known when the bums were thrown out the first time with the Senate and the Congressional election where Democrats picked up majore victories and majorities again).
They didn't get booted out so that we could make history by voting for a Black President!
They didn't get booted out because of President Hussein's approval rating!
They got booted out because for the 6 years that they held power, they tanked our country and their big oil and big business buddies were the only ones that flourished while we suffered.
7) “There should be a flat tax so that everybody will get taxed exactly alike!” Exactly!!
So...why didn't the Republicans make this happen when they had all controlling power?
Why did they give disproportionate tax breaks to the wealthy?
Because they'd "trickle down" the money back to the poor?
8) “That the wealthy get bigger breaks than the poor!” I’m all for the flat tax, but to keep it in perspective, even now the people in the top percentiles of income do provide the best majority of the taxes that run this country (even after you take all the lop holes into account!)
Do you know how they get wealthy?
Because common folk bought their products or supported their enterprises. They should be paying the same tax rate as us (I'm poor, I don't know about you). But instead, we give them more money...
...it's the sickness of this American Religion known as "Capitolism" where we worship the wealthy and aspire to be like them and leave gifts at the altar of government to them!
9) “…. they STILL didn't do anything about making a "simpler" tax.” Sadly, I don’t think we will ever get a flat tax because there are way too many politicians and special interest groups who personally oppose it
Well, remember, we are how we are because of The Republican controlled Senate/Congress/Presidency for 8 unrestricted years.
And you want more?
Phew! Thank the heavens that enough American woke up and got tired of being raked over the coals by Republicans.
And I agree with you...we will never get a flat tax or end abortion because there's too much "appeasing" of minority groups here.
Even with President Hussein, we still don't have a leader strong enough to "just say no" to the nut jobs whether they be Repubs or Dems.
But he is world's better than Bush was or McCain could ever be.
Yeah, I was one of them. Despite my disagreeing with him politically, I was right behind him patriotically. I'm an American first, party affiliation 2nd.
However, it is treasonous to support a President that practices policy that destroys our nation and to put loyalty to one's party over the Country.
No...that always happens. The only reason some people (and it's really only the Anti-Obamians) are making a huge fuss about this common occurance is that Obama started out with the 2nd highest Presidential approval rating in the history of our country.
He still has 2/3's of the country's support which is still unprecedented which a few people will overlook and focus on him losing 19 points.
That's like a kid coming home saying: "Dad! I made $83. on my paper route today! That's twice as much as I've ever made! But lost $19. on my way home." and the father only focusing on the lost $19. while completely ignoring the accomplishment of his son.
Oh, so now he's "too" strong?
That's exactly what we need now!
Strength, not weakness!
We need to anty up!
Reminds me of my favorite scene from the movie "Glory"...
"And what are you? So full of hate you want to go out and fight everybody! Because you've been whipped and chased by hounds.
Well that might not be living, but it sure as hell ain't dying. And dying's been what these white boys have been doing for going on three years now! Dying by the thousands! Dying for you, fool! I know, 'cause I dug the graves.
And all this time I keep askin' myself, when, O Lord, when it's gonna be our time?
Gonna come a time when we all gonna hafta ante up. Ante up and kick in like men. LIKE MEN!
You watch who you call a nigger! If there's any niggers around here, it's YOU. Just a smart-mouthed, stupid-***, swamp-runnin' nigger! And if you not careful, that's all you ever gonna be!"
I agree...because I only voted Democrat by default.
I wanted to vote for Huckabee really...but America didn't like him.
There was no way in Hades that McCain would've gotten my vote.
Absolutely...remember all the "Obama is a Muslim Terrorist Socialist Radical Extremist Unpatriotic Non-American!"?
It comes from both sides...the Maddows and the Limbaughs.
I can't stand to hear either one of them for very long (although I do love to hear Rush have anurysms over Obama's successes and to hear him say that he hopes our President's policies fail!).
Well, he stood directly opposed to Republican ideologies and that's what America wanted...there was not confusion, they knew they didn't want another Republican who believed in taking taxes from the poor and giving it to the wealthy through Corporate Welfare, that they were duped into a war that was only designed to get revenge for the first Bush's failure to take out Saddam Hussein the first time (which had a nice little side benefit with Bush's Oil Industry Croanies coming away with a huge chunk of coin) and we just got fed up.
