Matthew 16:18 Take that verse and write it without modern English translations for the words. In other words, write it "as is". Then, we can see what is "really" written there. Who's up to it?

Ya know, I think God told me what this verse means last Sunday sitting in church...but I'd have to study it a bit more. But it makes sense.

Ok, write it out taking away the English translations of the meanings of the words (for example, instead of the name Peter, insert what the word Peter literally means). Then, re-write the sentence and see what you end up with.

Peter: boy, Greek, a small stone.
and upon this small stone....lol.
Anyways, I'd rather not discuss it until I have studied the subject with the new idea God gave me.

Ok, but what definition are you using for the word Peter? And English Dictionary? You do understand that it's an English derivitive of a Greek word, and not just a Greek word, but a Koine Greek word (which what the New Testament was written in). So, now, we can establish that Jesus literally said: "...you are rock, and upon this rock I will build my Church." (My friend who is Greek taught me this and plus, she was also studying theology and Ancient Greek, so she was what we would consider an "expert")

I just looked up Peter on a baby names site. Well, I know that you have a hunger for scripture and that you're studying. Look up what the Koine definition of the word "peter" means. It literally means "rock". (Koine is the language that The New Testament was written in.) Then, insert that word into what Jesus told Simon and re-write His statement. Then, we can discuss Matthew 7 and the Parable of the two Churches. You'll see something fascinating. Along with how scripture talks about "what" foundation The Church is built upon. But first things first, let's define what Jesus meant when He said to Simon: "You are rock and upon this rock I will build My Church."
