This is a letter from my District Congressment Ted Poe....

As we approach the April district work period, I wanted to catch you up on what has been going on in Washington. Most of the news has been focused on the federal bailouts that seem to never end. I am one of only seventeen Members of Congress who have voted NO to each and every bailout bill. I do not believe it is the responsibility of the taxpayer to pay for the greed of Wall Street and other private industries’ failures.

Bailouts, Layoffs and Ripoffs

Just this week we are hearing news of another industry bailout. This time, General Motors….AGAIN! If you like the way the government runs FEMA, the IRS, Fannie Mae and the post office – you’re going to love the new federalized auto industry. Just think of it as “Government Motors.”

The President announced the federal government is going to exercise more forced control over American car companies. The President fired the CEO of General Motors and wants more automotive restructuring, the federal way. I do not believe they should receive any taxpayer money, but instead they should restructure under bankruptcy laws like other failed businesses do.

But, General Motors and Chrysler have already received billions in taxpayer bailout money and are poised to win favor with the White House for even more money. I will continue to vote NO to squandering more taxpayer money. The government should not get to pick who wins and who loses in the business world – the free market should decide.

I personally feel like these companies should take responsibility among themselves just like most companies that fail. The government is going way to far in trying to run everything. This is starting to make me sick.

You're not old enough to remember this, but President Obama is doing exactly the same thing with exactly the same people that President Clinton did and used.

And do you know what happened then back in the early 90's when President Clinton took over the failing economy that Bush I left him? He turned it around.

And guess what...back then, not one Republican (like this time) voted to pass the budget that President Clinton signed. They didn't support American back then and their not supporting America now.

This is nothing new.

You'll see...President Obama is going to turn our country around. It's already working. The Economy has consistently grown since he was sworn into offie and began implimenting his plans. The Stock Market is rallying. We are re-developing all the internationial relationships we lost through the last Administration.

All Republicans keep doing is talking about how bad things are "going to be", but none are commenting on how good things are going now. Have you noticed that?

The so-called "alterntive" to the President's plan they tried to pass off on April Fool's Day was exactly that. It didn't even have dollar figures in it until The Democrats and the general American publilc demanded that they publish their numbers.

And you know what it was? Same ol' Bush/Reagan/Republican policies that put us in this mess the President Obama inherited...give tons of tax breaks to the wealthy and to the big corporations. Those taxe breaks come from the pockets of the American Working Man.

This is why they are losing numbers day by day. The Zealots become Libertarians and the Moderates are becomming Blue Dog Conservative Democrats (like me). Only the Right Wing Fundamentalist Radicals are remaining Republican.

You'll see. Even though 1/2 of the country is Republican, 2/3's of the country is approving of The President's job and of how he's handling things. What does that tell you? That 1/2 of the Republicans are in agreement with the rest of the country.

You were probably 10 years old when President Clinton brought record breaking prosperity and a budget surplus to our country. Your whole adult life, you've experienced no Republican success...only Republican failures (failures to catch Osama Bin Ladin, failures to beat Al Quaeda, failures to continue the successful balanced budget that President Clinton left them with, etc...).

So you'll support them no matter what...even when all they've done over the past 8 years is to fail the American people. Remember, they were in charge of the Presidency and the Senate and The Congress for 6 out of the last 8 years (when all the problems we have now developed) and when The Democrats got The Senate and Congress, Bush vetoed every bill they put forth to try to (something he NEVER did while The Republicans had The Senate & Congress).

But finally, all that's changing.

And the proof is in the numbers of the growth of the economy and the stock market. And it's all because of President Obama's actions.

Hm, wish I knew more about politics, lol. I took a government class a few semesters back thinking that would help....yeah not so much, didn't make any sense to me :-(
