Hello, Since this is the season of Pascha, and Orthodox Christians are suppose to devote themselves in prayer and fasting for this great feast, it is wise to mention a Canon said by many [including me] as part of there prayer rule. It is called the Canon of Repentance to our Lord Jesus Christ. It's about sin and the forgiveness which Christ bestow upon us because of his Holy Incarnation, his Death, Resurrection and Accession into the Heavenly Glory. I figure The entire prayer can be found here: holyascensionofchrist.org/repentance.htmThere is also another Canon that we Orthodox read called The Great Canon of Saint Andrew of the Crete. The Great Canon is performed during the first week of the Great Lent. During Great Compline on Monday, Tuesday, Wendesday and Thursday, one portion of the Canon is sung after the Little Doxology (Greek practice) or Psalm 69 (Russian practice; my parish) is read. On Wednesday of the fifth week of the Great Lent, the Life of St. Mary of Egypt is read together with the entire Great Canon at Orthros (or Matins, orthodoxwiki.org/Orthros) (sometimes Thursday proper in Slavic tradition). This practice was implemented during the life of St. Andrew, who was also the author of St. Mary's hagiography. It is called "Great Canon" because it is a lengthy penitential canon. These two Canons, I believe, are great prayers that reflect this Feast implications. May all of us devote more time in prayer and fasting. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. In IC.XC, Ramon
