Really? Thanks Ramon. I feel like I'm a very BAD iconographer. See, I don't totally follow the classical techniques and methods. But how do you turn a mosaic into a painting? It's really hard. I just absolutely LOVE that icon from the Hagia Sophia.
You know what was awesome there? When the turks came and desecrated the Church, they plastered over the mosaics and there were also large painted crosses that they plastered over. But now, over 500 years later, the paint from the cross has seeped through the plaster and the crosses are clearly visible.
There may be even more mosaics that are still covered in plaster. I'm really worried that someone will vandalize the ones uncovered because there were no guards upstairs, anyone can touch them and no one would say anything.
I'm almost done with another Icon, the Mysterious Supper(?) or "old Testament Trinity" by Rublev. I LOVE that Icon.
After I have copied some and studied more, I want to make some slightly "original" ones, keeping with the basic elements of them.
