Here are some scripture references that may be helpful to explain a little bit why Catholic teaching is what it is regarding contraception. There is also JP II’s theology of the body, and I would likewise recommend Paul VI’s encyclical Humanae Vitae if you are interested in better understanding the Catholic viewpoint. However, this is a forum on scriptures so here is a brief summary from the good book:
The bible makes it clear that God – and thus the Church – is very interested in the family. First off, God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is the Divine family. Next, when God made man (male & female) He created them in His image (Gen 1:27). This creation was to image God as a family unit and so we see that the very first thing He commanded them to do was “be fruitful and multiply” (Gen 1:28). This is what God intended when man & woman come together and become one flesh in the marriage covenant. It is through the marital act of faithfully giving one's self to another that God chooses to bring new life and bring “godly offspring” (Mal 2:15) into the world.
I understand that this is not an easy path for many to follow in this day & age. We all know that “My body, my choice” is the anthem of the age we live in. However, that is not how a Christian is supposed to look at things. We are not of this world. As St. Paul says, “We are ambassadors for Christ”. (2 Cor 5:20) He also reminds us that, “you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Cor 6:19-20)
The biggy is this: Trust! We believe that God knows what is best for our families. Do we trust God or not?

I agree. But I am not one of those women who can put her full trust in God regarding having children. I wish I was....but I'm not.

I see the scriptures saying to multiply and create more Godly people, but it does not say you CANT use BC. I have brought into this world a lovely Catholic child, he is very loving and when im ready to bring another in...i will...if i chose not to, then that is my decision.

I see the scriptures saying to multiply and create more Godly people, but it does not say you CANT use BC. That's irreverent as your Church condemn the practice, and you suppose to submit to the authority of the Church, regardless of your opinions and objections. Sorry, as I said before, this is very odd (i.e., for a Catholic "supposedly" following Rome, but reject her decrees when it doesn't agree with his or her personal opinions). Sorry, not here to bash, but stating the obvious. In IC.XC, Ramon

That would be murder. Using condoms or BC pill is not murder.

I do not submit to the Church or the Pope. I am Catholic as far as i'm concerned, but i have some disagreements with some of the Church laws. Like, im soooo FOR the death penalty. But just because i have a few disagreements, that does not mean that i am gunna go down the road to the baptist church or any other church. I love the Catholic church.

That would be murder. Using condoms or BC pill is not murder. Many would disagree with that statement when it comes to birth control pills. It can prevent implantation of an embryo thus leading to its death.

I also once bought into the contraceptive culture, but I've since come to accept the teaching authority of the Catholic Church which brings the Gospel of Christ unto the world.

Lol Marcie, you don't like Baptists do you? Or maybe just Baptist churches?
MrStain, don't worry, I've never killed an embryo.

Marcie, please don't get mad at me, because you know I love you, but why are you Catholic then? Is it because of the Liturgy? What is it about the Catholic Church that keeps you there (as opposed to being baptist or whatever?) Actually, I'm impressed that you didn't leave the Church even though you have your differences.

This is why you need to learn more about The Church. The Church agrees with The Death Penalty under the correct circumstances too. You need to be confirmed CC! ;D When I was confirmed, it was amazing. It literally changes you.

Well, i was raised in the Catholic church, i truly believe it IS the Church of Jesus, i love the celebration of mass. I believe in the core beliefs of the Catholic church which there is no other church i could belong to.
