What are you guys planning on during this Holy Week? I am going to try to go the Vespers (I can't do Matins). The services are heavenly. Can't wait till Holy Resurrection day! I so love the service. It's good to be Orthodox! LOL! Holy Week in the Eastern Orthodox Tradition is so much different than Holy Week in my former Pentecostal Church! It's like comparing apples and watermelons!

In IC.XC., What's up Ramon. I can't wait for the Easter Vigil where we light one candle in a completely darkened Church and with that one lighted candle, the rest of the candles are lit (hundreds) until The Church is lit by candlelight. I'm hoping my daughters will come with me. Yep, it's good to be Orthodox and good to be Catholic! True, they (the non-Catholics) don't have what we (Orthodox/Catholics) have as far as tradition goes. Funny thing is that there is a precession where some local non-denominational Christian churches are going to carry a cross around town, but get this...they call it a "ressurection symbol"! And, they refuse to acknowledge that this is a precession. They try to downplay it so much. But it is what it is...another Catholic/E.O. type practice that "shall not be named" (like they did with The Holy Bible). It's ok...the closer they get to us, the better. It only took them 500 years to catch up with the act of breaking bread and having wine at worship services. Who knows...maybe one day they'll actually take John 6 literally (like we do). God bless you all.

What's up Ramon. I can't wait for the Easter Vigil where we light one candle in a completely darkened Church and with that one lighted candle, the rest of the candles are lit (hundreds) until The Church is lit by candlelight. We Orthodox do something alone those lines in our Pascha Vigil. The Priest (as a Icon of Christ) hold a lighted candle. The whole church is pinch black, and we all hold a candle. As some point, we are called forward, and each of us light our candle from the one the Priest holds (which symbolized that we all come to the heavenly light through Jesus Christ, The Light). The service is long though. If I am not mistaken from last year, it last more than 3 hours or 3 1/2. I don't mind standing that long though. True, they (the non-Catholics) don't have what we (Orthodox/Catholics) have as far as tradition goes. Yes, I know what you mean. There so many things Orthodox/Catholics do that I just love and will not let it go for Protestantism. Funny thing is that there is a precession where some local non-denominational Christian churches are going to carry a cross around town, but get this...they call it a "ressurection symbol"! And, they refuse to acknowledge that this is a precession. They try to downplay it so much. LOL! So Catholic/Orthodox! LOL! I know in my past Pentecostal church, I knew some brothers and sisters who kiss there Bible. For some reason, kissing the Bible is natural for many Protestants, but kissing a Holy Icon, well that is just satanic/pagan and idolatry! LOL! But yea, have a blessed Pascha. In IC.XC.,

By the way, have you gone to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem? I will love to spent Holy Week there! It is one of the sacred places by us Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Catholics. Here is a link my friend gave me. www.360tr.com/kudus/kiyamet_eng/index.htmlI can't afford to go there now, but trust me, one day I will! In IC.XC.,

In IC.XC., I like to see the looks on their faces when I ask them how they'd feel if I took their bible and threw it on the floor and kicked it across the room. They get this crazy expression...crazy eyes. After they express their outrage, I call the idolaters according to their standards (of course, they are not, but I do that to prove a point to them). It's amazing how silent they get when I simply just "talk" to them and compare what they do to what we do. If I can just get them to think before they regurgitate what they've been incorrectly taught, then maybe, just maybe, they'd learn to only repeat things they know are true which would go a long way in healing the divisions between us. By the way...Happy Easter All...

If I could only go to one place in the world besides the US, it would be to The Holy Land. Then, Vatican City.

Isn't the Church (in Israel) where monks beat each other up? Seriously, who is that? Is it Orthodox and Armenian or someone else? People are way too intense over there. Love the Icons Ramon.

Sadly, yes, they have been incidents of fights breaking out between the Eastern Orthodox and the Armenians/Orientals. There are separate sessions within the Church for the Catholics, Orthodox, Oriental, and Armenians, so when one get into the "other" territory or do something disrespect toward another group.....well the spirit of Jackie Chan comes in! LOL! ; All jokes aside, there are a lot of tension over there and in other parts of the Middle East, so we should all pray for peace. In IC.XC.,
