How come back in your Protestant days when you claim you read your Bible so much all of these Catholic teachings like purgatory and such didn't leap right off the pages at you?

Because before, he wasn't allowed to believe in The Holy Bible. He was only taught the kingly "version" of it that a man in England commissioned.

Once he was allowed to do his own studying (outside of the respective religious group he belonged to), he was able to have The Holy Spirit talk directly "to" him.

And thus...truth was revealed.

And he received the fullness of The Truth instead of the post-16th Century "version" of it.

As Catholics, are we supposed to act in divisive manner? Or are we called to show the Christ that lives within us, so that those that are separated, now, may see that we are really brothers and sisters.
Christ's Church is defined by the Holy Spirit. Each and every person that God has given this Spirit to, are his Church.
