Why do you think I posted it? ;D Seriously though, have you ever heard the theory that it is Jeruselum? Supposedly, Babylon is Rome (Peter calls Rome in one of his epistles). Jeruselum is called the whore because she was in bed with Rome in not only crucifying Jesus and rejecting Him, but also in the persecution of the Christian community. Revelation is seen by scholars as John's "code" book for writing on the events that were happening during his time. For example, the number of the beast add up to Nero's name. Nero is The Beast. There is a breakdown with very consistant scriptures and support for it's theory done by an individual...let me see if I can find the link: Here it is... members.aol.com/johnprh/whore2.htmlHe takes a very unemotional & rational look at the Book of Revelations. Here's one of the facts he blew me away with. The City of Seven Hills is "not" in Italy, but actually "in" Jeruselum. Anyone can do the research themselves and see this. He lists the names of the hills and actually proves how Italy doesn't meet the geographical description portrayed in Revelation. And his suggestion is full of facts like this. Facts...not beliefs or theologies or doctrines, but undeniable secular facts. I have a saying...."When history meets Scripture, there you have truth." This article is full of truths that have nothing to do with religion. It's based solely on historical and geographical evidence that anybody who can Google can either prove or disprove. |

My church did a study...and we studied that it was the RCC. I can't seem to find my notes, but if you'd like to listen to the sermons on it, let me know.
There's sermons on that topic and the topic of Israel being the woman in Rev 12.

I thought i heard your pastor say he was the anti-christ in that sermon i listened too? Maybe it was the RCC that he said instead? I believe he is wrong either way.

Not all Baptist churches teach the same things. A shame, and a clear evidence of what modern Protestantism is: disunity. At least Lutherans, Anglicans, Calvisnist, Presbyterians and other orthodox Protestants* are more consistent with their teachings and their disagreements are not merely interepetation of Scriptures but also theological disagreements. ---- Nonetheless, if the Whore is the Catholic Church, when will she fall? Certainly the world has tried to make her fall MAAANY times, both from without and from within. Schisms, heresies, Nazis, Communists, Liberals, Modernists, and even Fundamentalist Protestants. 2000 years of unshaken truth, and still standing. Juan- I believe that verse is talking about Chrisitans as a Church body, not one specific denomination.

indeed, but he also established a Church upon Peter the rock.
This Church was the Church of Acts that we see. It spread throughout, hence the 7 letters of revelation and the 7 churches that St. Paul addressed: these signify the unity of the Church, the wholeness (since 7 is the perfect number, signifying "entirety").
History (including the Book of Acts) tells us that there was virtually one Church before the Reformation (since even the Eastern Orthodox held many of the same doctrines).
So historically, the Catholic Church has indeed passed the test of time as promised by Jesus in Matt 16:18.
This proves that the Whore of Babylon *cannot* be the Catholic Church, because the Catholic Church is still around.

I don't believe Jesus told Peter to est. the CC, but a body of believers...that the gates of hell cannot prevail against the body of believers... It can be the CC because the end times haven't happened yet.  |
