Right now, I'm painting 3 different Icons.
For some reason, anti-Catholics have it in their minds that Catholics are breaking one of the Commandments for having Icons.
I used to be an Iconoclast, but not anymore. Yes, and I even kiss my Icon of Jesus.
Please, join my Icon fanclub!

awww. One time at Church, my girls were acting up, so I rummaged in my purse and found a little prayer card (with mary?) and they took it and passed it around and kept kissing it. Loudly and repeatedly. It was kind of cute, but people kept looking over at them, so my husband whispered to them "I'm Orthodox". Don't know if they understood that, but I did.. . whenever people enter an Orthodox Church, they don't bow genuflect like Catholics. They usually first light a candle and then kiss an Icon.

I'll kiss the real Jesus when I get to Him....I'll never kiss or show any kind of affection or submission to a hunk of rock or plastic.

My son gives my maw maws statue of MARY kisses all the time...he is soo sweet ! That's natural. Children that love Jesus automatically love His Blessed Mother. It has to be programmed into them that they are not to show her any sort of veneration. Satan feels the same way...he hates her veneration too. It turns his stomach too.

They read it with a "carnal" (and not spirutal) mind. Scripture teaches us not to deal with "false" idols. It doesn't denounce "true" idols. God used them all the time (Angels on the Ark of The Covenant, Statues inside His Temple, Bronze Snake Idol, etc...). ;D

Don't know if they understood that, but I did.. . whenever people enter an Orthodox Church, they don't bow genuflect like Catholics. They usually first light a candle and then kiss an Icon. I think that's cool too (how EO's enter a Church). I saw this Pentecostal lady crying about how her daughter was going down the wrong path while riding the bus. My heart hurt so much for her that I got up without even thinking and gave her my Rosary. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes and said why did I give that to her. I told her to hold it, to pray. I told her that her daughter would be alright. That I'd pray for her. Did she thrust it back in my hand? Did she reject the gift I gave her? No. She clutched it. Not one Protestant got up and reached out to her when she was in her time of spiritual suffering. Did I convert her? I don't think so (anyway, God converts people, not humans). But I hope that if she ever thinks of putting down a Catholic Christian, she will remember the time a Catholic Christian showed her compassion and showed that he too hurt for her daughter. In my heart, I believe my action opened a door of understanding and love between her and our faith. She doesn't have to believe in Universal Christianity now, but at least, she knows she was shown love by one...The true example of Christ's (not my own) work. I take no credit for that action...something moved me out of my seat. If it was God, I was just a pencil in His great hand and He was the author.

I don't kiss the pictures of my husband. Ahhh! So you do have graven images in your house! When you look at those images, do they evoke "feelings"?

I know what my husband looks like and they are real pictures of real events that took place in our past. Not a picture of what I think he looks like. Plus, my husband isn't holy. And of course pictures of my wedding and my husband bring on feelings of love and happiness (most times, lol).

And of course pictures of my wedding and my husband bring on feelings of love and happiness (most times, lol). So! You admit that the pictures manipulate your emotions then, right? ;D So, you have no problems with depictions of Biblical events then? So, "holy" persons are not allowed to be depicted?

I have no problem with Biblical events....I just don't like it when people try to create the face of Jesus. I, personally, believe that is what the anti-christ will look like. Handsom, long brown hair, brown beard....everyone will go "gasp! that looks like Jesus! and he's talking about peace just like Jesus too!"

I have no problem with Biblical events.... Cool. Why not? There's actual historical evidence of what He looked like. Again, I tell everybody who questions this to watch this documentary on PBS called "The Face - Jesus in Art". It goes into how Jesus has been depicted throughout history since the first century. Why? I don't think so...Hippies look like Jesus and talk like Him (about peace and all). ;D

Because to me, it makes sense. Most everyone will have seen the face of Christ...it would just help in the deception, would be smart on satan's part.

Emily, That is an excellent point...but if someone is dumb enough to be fooled by a physical appearance, then they don't "know" Jesus Christ. His (us) know Him. We will "know" Him when we see Him without a doubt. You don't have to fear being fooled or tricked if you are a Christian. You have to have faith that you will not be led astray as long as you are living a righteous life. The fruits of Christ will be obvious.

Heather, your PMS must make you not make much sense either. What are you talking about?
Steven, There will be many many many who will be decieved by the anti-christ....and I think it would be a smart move by satan to make the anti christ look like pictures of Jesus, since most everyone has seen them. That's just personal opinion, no scripture to back it up. Plus, he has probably already thought of that.
