Joey, not really...I don't read half the posts around here. I know what I believe Well, I think you should read that one reply 75. I think you would agree what the Bible actually says is more important than what you believe. An unteachable spirit might die in its ignorance, with no one to blame but themselves.

I am taught by my husband and my pastor using the Word of God. I am not on this forum to be taught.

Maybe teach was the wrong word. But I am under them as a submissive wife and uh...congregation member... My husband is the spiritual head of the household, as is my pastor to our church.

I didn't even realize you said your husband taught you the first time I read your post. So, you do take your spiritual guidance from a man and NOT just The Bible alone. Right?

The Bible says the husband is the spiritual leader of the household. He will conduct Bible studies with our children...so in a sense, yes I learn from him when he does those things.
This is also the principle with Discipleship. Jesus taught His Word to His disciples, His diciples taught others, etc etc down to me and my husband. And hopefully soon, we will get the priveledge to help others understand the Word of God. 2 Tim 2:2

It can be. If my husband was a non-believer, or I couldn't find a good Bible-believing local church, etc. But in the best scenerio, the husband is my spiritual leader and helps me understand parts that I don't understand (and visa versa with him). And the pastor is the head of my local church, I learn from his sermons based on the Bible.

I don't need either of them to understand the Word. Discipleship is Biblical though and should be done.

Well I guess in a sense it is. We should compare everything our husbands and pastors tell us to the Word. So, in that sense it is...also our final authority.

So, why the need to be taught if you have to go to The Bible anyway? Why not just go to The Bible yourself? And...what you're saying is different than SS. You use the Bible as a "tool" to confirm actions and teachings you hear first "outside" of The Bible.

2 Tim 2:2
I use the BIble as my final authority. I study it, I mediate upon it. Whatever someone else says will be compared to Scripture. It is a tool to see whether a doctrine is correct or not...but it goes way beyond that.

It is a tool to see whether a doctrine is correct or not...but it goes way beyond that. I love The Book of Timothy! It's one of the most Catholic books in The Bible (it's literally one of 'The Catholic Letters" in the Bible). That verse you chose is one of the "proofs" of Apostolic Succession that completely counter "Sola Scriptura". It states that even before there was a Bible, there was oral tradition: " And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. "

Even if your husband is a believer, how do you know if he is right? He isn't supposed to teach you what he believes, he is supposed to teach you what the Church believes. I just watched a movie where the husband brainwashed his wife to believe all this crazy stuff and he had Bible verses to "prove" it. Scary stuff.

Heather, My husband is my authority figure spiritually, under God. But I do compare all that he says to what the Bible says. It is his job to teach his family about the Bible.

It sounds like either you are usurping the leadership in your home since your husband is Orthodox and you are Catholic or you think what your husband believes in crazy .
