Why don't Methodists follow their own religion?

Meaning it= not just saying it to say it, to actually believe it. To be Saved one must accept Jesus as their Lord and repent of their sins. And like I said before, I called Jesus "Lord" when I was Lost.... Jesus sent them to hell because they didn't accept Christ, they were lost goats...not part of His flock of sheep. So what did you " do" different that made you "really saved"?

Emily how do you know that you "actually believe it"? How did you judge that you really meant it? Did you feel a certain emotion, did you start acting differently, did you see signs?
What happened exactly to show you that you had been "saved"?

That Catholic guy that became Anglican because he wanted to be married and be a priest. That sounds like something King Henry would have done.

Heather, my life started to change.

Heather, my life started to change. But what did you " do" differently to prove that you had truly believed? James 2: 17Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

I didn't do anything to prove that I truely believed, I did things differently because sin left a bad taste in my mouth, sin made me sick, Jesus was in my heart so there was no room for sin.

If you don't count the fact that I stopped cursing, stop lieing to my parents, stopped stealing, stopped getting drunk...
Then no, I have no proof.

If you don't count the fact that I stopped cursing, stop lieing to my parents, stopped stealing, stopped getting drunk... Then no, I have no proof. The Word of God teaches us that you are to prove your faith by your works. It's not only what you "don't" do, but what you actually "do" as well. That is, if you accept the complete teaching. You didn't do better things after you were born again? Did you work serving the poor? Did you help out anybody that was in jail? Did you feed a homeless person? Did you do anything that Jesus required of the goats that they didn't do? If you didn't, does the make you a goat too? Because while they believed, they too didn't have any works to prove their faith. And, why did Jesus SAY they were condemned to hell? He didn't say "go to hell because you don't really believe in me". What were His exact words Em?

Steven, my works for Christ are between me and Him. I'd prefer not to share them, I want only Jesus to see them and know they are for Him...not to show off.

Emily, if you had still been saved, but were also still cursing, lieing etc, then would it have "counted"?
How did you know that Jesus is "in your heart"?

Heather, yes...but I would have had a bad time with the Holy Spirit chastizing me.
If you really have to ask that question....are YOU really Saved? All the born-again believers I know don't have to ask that question. We just know, you can feel Him cleaning up your heart, you can see evidence in your life of chastizement for the sin you still hold onto....

Steven, my works for Christ are between me and Him. I'd prefer not to share them, I want only Jesus to see them and know they are for Him...not to show off. Well, the scripture clearly states that without good works, your faith is dead and useless to Jesus or yourself. So, you just admitted that you have works. Well done. Now, what did Jesus tell the Goats as to "why" they were going to hell?

What's the passage again? James 2 Faith and Deeds 14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. 19You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. 20You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[d]? 21Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,"[e] and he was called God's friend. 24You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone. 25In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
